South Shades Crest School opened in August 1995 serving students in kindergarten through the fifth grade. A realignment plan, in 2018, provided South Shades Crest with the very unique opportunity to serve students from kindergarten through the second grade. We currently have approximately 500 students enrolled and serve students kindergarten through second grade.
South Shades Crest is committed to providing an academically challenging, quality education that includes multiple opportunities for students and staff to reach their fullest potential. Classes are self-contained with a student/staff ratio of approximately 19 to 1 in kindergarten and first grade with 20 to 1 in second. Our staff provides students opportunities that extend beyond our rich and rigorous curriculum. Technology is integrated throughout the school day using Chromebooks and other state-of-the-art instructional technology.
Special programs are available for children needing additional help as well as those needing academic enrichment. These programs include instructionalsupport, speech, art, music, physical education, and S.T.E.A.M.
